TEC Executives In-Residence
The Executives-In-Residence program is an opportunity for entrepreneurs and/or individuals with extensive experience in early stage startup companies to help guide teams of students through the entrepreneurial and commercialization process. We encourage our mentors to take leadership positions in those projects that fit their personal and professional interests.
The TEC course sequence meets every Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 9 PM during the fall and spring semesters. The executives must be willing to regularly attend the Wednesday sessions in order to provide the necessary guidance and assess the team's progress. Once in a while, the mentor will be requested to meet with their student team outside of class typically around the time of mid-term and final presentations. Additionally, all executives must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement, protecting the IP rights of any and all technologies brought to the clinic.
The executives are integral members of the program. Their role is to mentor a team as they grapple with the challenges of commercializing 'real world' technologies. Their primary responsibilities are to ensure that the team is making appropriate business decisions and functioning efficiently and timely, and evaluating their output.
